Hey everybody!
Here is the syllabus for class this semester. On it you'll find most of the policies for class (grading, late work, etc...).
My expectations of you:
I will expect you to do your assignments (I'll usually give you enough time during class to complete them) to the best of your ability, turn your papers in on time, participate in class discussions of the material (including trying to work out some of the example problems both in your notebook and on the board), and communicate your needs to me.
Your expectations of me:
You can expect me to provide you with grade reports at least every two weeks and a day or two before exams. I do this so that you can know where you stand on a regular basis. You can expect me to treat you with the same level of respect that you treat me. You address me as, "Mr. Longo," and I will extend to you the same courtesy. You can also expect me to offer you every opportunity to succeed that I can. I will offer you time in class to work on assignments and projects, and in return for you communicating your needs to me (as mentioned above) I will do everything in my power to help you with classwork and due dates if you talk with me about them. (If you need an extra day on an assignment or a project, just talk with me about it!)
Consequences for not meeting expectations:
If I find that you are not meeting your expectations, you will first find yourself getting gentile reminders from me, them reminders from Mr. Tucker, then reminders from your parents after I've called home, then probably reminders during a meeting with everyone I've mentioned already. I take your education seriously because I want you to succeed.
If I am not meeting expectations, you can give me gentile reminders, have Mr. Tucker give me gentile reminders, have your parents give me gentile reminders and then have all of the above give me gentile reminders. You can even call home and tell my wife to give me gentile reminders if you like (you may not have to as she works down the hall...)
If you have any questions, just let me know (either at school, via e-mail, or here on the class blog.)
See you Monday morning!
- Longo
